Time and date
Times
• Please use military time (24-hour format) instead of A.M./P.M.: 17:00.
• When in doubt, open a Word document, select Russian as the language and go to Insert > Date and Time… which will give you a list of existing formats.
Dates
• The recommended format is as follows: ДД.MM.ГГГГ.
• When writing out the dates, this format is preferred: ДД месяц ГГГГ г. For example:
5 мая 2022 г.
• Do not mirror the English source by capitalizing months.
• When in doubt, open a Word document, select Russian as the language and go to Insert > Date and Time… which will give you a list of existing formats.
Measurements
You should translate measurement units but do NOT convert measurement amounts.
All measurement units need to be written in the same format as the source (acronym vs. spelled out version). Please use the appropriate acronym confirmed by online or other resources, including the website sokr.ru, preceded by a non-breaking space.
Some examples of measurement units in Russian: 5 м, 10 л, 15 кг, 25 ºC, 100 ºF
For additional information regarding measurements, please check the specific instructions of each project:
